2005 Subaru WRX STI Featured

Imagine that an all-wheel-drive 227-horsepower 2005 Subaru WRX STI sedan swallowed a cocktail of steroids and methanol. Not that we recommend that particular blend, but the result would do something similar to the decidedly manic 2005 Subaru WRX STI Type RA Spec C. This STi is a lightweight, right-hand-driver.

2005 Subaru WRX STI Features
  • turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four gurgles innocently. There's no clue that 276 horses are waiting at 6400 rpm or that you can rev it to eight grand if you so desire in the Subaru WRX STI.
  • Another pleasant surprise of the 2004 Subaru WRX STI is the solid hunk of low-end thrust on hand from about 3500 on up. We love the C's sleeperlike nature, too.
  • 2005 Subaru WRX STI has no spoilers. no stripes, neon, or other BS. The would-be stoplight assassin in the orange Z28 Camaro must still be wondering what sucked his door handles off.
  • In spite of the super grip afforded by the Subaru WRX STi's full-time AWD, the best we could muster on our dusty test track--shifting left handed--was a 5.5-second 0-60 time. A left-hand-drive model on a clean track is a 5.3-second car.
  • The 2005 Subaru WRX STi's future consists of rally stages, not commuting chores, so there's no air-conditioning, radio, ABS, airbags, sound-deadening material, undercoating, trunk floor, or even passenger sunvisor.
  • The Spec C's ride is way, way firm with lots of bump and thump over expansion joints. But the reward for its direct and noisy suspension links is razor-sharp steering response make the 2004 Subaru WRX STI a leader.
